The Path To Triple Tuned

It all started on the 18th April 1978 when I was born. I grew up in Lucern / Switzerland. But when I look back I can't remember much really. But I remember 1997! Propellerhead Software released their awesome software ReBirth. As Virtual Analog I started creating many tracks to get a feeling of what it needs creating a track. My first tracks were based on some simple drum and bassline patterns which were introduced one by one.

My friends and I spent many hours with ReBirth. Loaded with some stuff we were tweaking the ReBirth filters and let them twist our brains. After a year I took all self made tracks and created my first album. Virtual Analog - ReBirth Trax Vol.1.

This was one track from this album called welcome to orbit.

1998 Propellerhead released version 2.0 of its blockbuster software ReBirth with two 303s and more sounds. Still amazed by it I changed my artist name to AHTSI. The idea behind that name was its sounding. Its sounding should be similar to my nickname here in Switzerland.  Anyway, I still tried to make better tracks with a leitmotif, a beginning and a clear ending. With all the mods from ReBirth I was able to vary in different ways. After I created enough tracks I released my second album. AHTSI - green light. One of my best friends was creating me a cover. I sold some albums and it's still a pleasure to put the CD into the player, remembering the time and stories attached to the tracks.

Take a listening example from this album, Remember and Old Times.

Around 1998 Access Music released their legendary hardware synthesizer Virus. I got a job during summer 1999 and when all others were having fun I was coding Microsoft Access. The job was well paid and after eight weeks of hard work I finally bought some hard gears and a Virus of course. With the gears also Triple Tuned was born. Unfortunately I can't remember where I found the name. But I was looking for a long time. It should be the last name I chose.

With hard gears and soft gears in link I was trying to reach the next step in making music. Pretty sure to rule the world in a short time I was creating many tracks. But after each track I was puzzled about the melodies and the song itself. Always tried to sound like other musician I found out I do not sound like the others. Today I know, nothing sounds like me! It must be definitely my own style of music. Triple Tuned rulez!

After the Millennium the second blockbuster software from Propellerhead was coming, Reason! Very used to their products it was love at the first sight. With each upgrade the software became more powerful. With the ReWire technology connected to my Sonar ... This just rocks man! Controlling Reason with the keyboard from my pc I'm fully able to play and arrange tracks at real time. Sometimes I'm playing around for hours. And when the time has come I can recognize how the patterns needs to be arranged. Around this time I created my third album, Triple Tuned - load and run.

Many things changed and I also bought a digital mixer hoping to reach better sound quality. Around this time I released my fourth album se7en tracks. It was kind of my first best of album, also with three new tracks on it.

I worked many years with Reason, the digital Mixer and my hard gears. With this equipment I did the track of my life, Change Is Coming. This track is still my favourite one. Its sounding, build up, chords and its unique 52 bar melody (together!) are making this track a delicacy. I'm sure, nobody was counting the melody and was saying, hey, this is not a 16, 32 or 64 bar melody. This one has 52. How is this possible? Jedi mind trick! All these tracks are on my sixth album, Triple Tuned - show time.

PCs became more powerful over the years. So I sold my digital mixer and plugged the hardware synths directly to my PC processing all audio with it. With Reason 3.0, software synths like Z3, a Virus and a Roland in shape with the rest, anything is possible! And I'm looking forward to my seventh album. Triple Tuned - trance for the living room.
